Welcome home, Sis. Connie had a restful night last night after her trip. She looked better today, was more relaxed, so much that I could do full exercise to her limbs. I am impressed with the nurses at the KPH who, in a short time made themselves familiar with Connie and her condition. The nurses and doctors have been very approachable and open minded. Her therapy will start tomorrow I was told. The assurance was given that they will give her their all where therapy is concerned. We thank Dr Neville Ballen,
Mrs Tricia O'Sullivan who help to make the transition so easy. The ambulance medical team were so impressed with you, Tricia. Thanks to my dear friends who stayed eve till late night at KPH till Connie was registered and settled. THANKS TO ALL OF YOU for being continuousy in touch and giving such appreciated assistance. Currently, the hospital is only allowing a limited amount of relatives. Connie is to be moved into another area that is being prepared. Hopefully then, all her friends and well wiishers will be able to visit her then.
With free health care there are some things that, with you help, we could donate to the hospital, the ICU in particular, such as adult diapers and disposables. Please assist however you can. Bless and thanks...Sandra
On august 23rd, 2009 Conradine 'Connie' Campbell, had a seizure minutes before hitting the stage (while on tour) at the Crossroads Entertainment Complex in Maryland . Connie suffered a "Brainstem Stroke" and now has "locked in syndrome". The prognosis is guarded due to quadriplegia from brainstem cva. Favourable factors are her young age, good family and friends support and possible ability to comprehend and follow directions for rehabilitation. She is NOT in a coma and is able to open her eyes when her name is called and many times is able to follow commands to move her eyes in tracking objects as directed by physician. She will need extensive and prolonged therapy over 6-9 months. Therapy has not yet been started. We need to raise funds for Connie's therapy. This group is in support of this process.
There has been more bad news pertaining to this situation. PG County Hospital is taking Connie's case to court after her insurance already dished out $100,000.00 US to cover her. There is also some discreperances in how they handled Connie's condition from the time she left the concert to the hospital. Stay tuned for more as our story developes. To help Connie the information is below.
